Apples - Russian Bread and Pies Recipe

How to Cook & Prepare Apples:

1kg apples
1 cupful sugar

Pare, core and cut up the apples. Add sugar and 2 or 3 tblsps water. Cook over low heat until thick and mushy.

This filling may be used for pirogi made with straight or shortcake dough, flaky, paste, for fancy bread, or deep fried dumpings.

If raw apples are used for filling, pare, chop and mix them with sugar.
