Codfish and horseradish stew - Russian Fish & Seafood RecipeHow to Cook & Prepare Codfish and horseradish stew: 500 g codfish 20 g flour Butter a deep saucepan and sprinkle with a thin layer of grated horseradish then alternate layers of fish (cut into portions) and horseradish. Add vinegar and salt to the stock, heat and then pour over the fish. Cover with a lid and simmer for one hour. Carefull drain the stock into another saucepan. Add sour cream to the stock and bring to the boil. Gradually stir in the flour which has been combined with butter, blend thoroughly and bring to the boil. Pour the sauce over the fish and again bring to the boil. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from the saucepan with a skimmer. Serve with a garnishing ofboiled potatoes. Pour over the pan sauce and sprinkle with the greens. Sole, catfish, pike or carp; and horseradish stew Substitute any of these fish in the recipe above.
