Meat Balls in Tomato Sauce - Russian Meat Recipe

How to Cook & Prepare Meat Balls in Tomato Sauce:

(Tefteli in Tomato Sauce)

500 g meat (boned) 2 tblsps flour
100 g green onions or 2 tblsps butter
1 dry onion 1 cupful meat stock
½ cupful tomato puree 1 or 2 bay leaves
100 g white bread 5 or 6 peppercorns or
2 or 3 cloves of garlic a sliver of hot pepper
1 tsp savoury tomato salt
sauce minced parsley

Prepare the forcemeat, add minced green onions or grated dry onion and mix thoroughly. Divide the mixture and roll into balls 20 to 30 grams each. Roll in flour, fry in butter and transfer to a casserole. Add the tomato puree, stock, spices and also the crushed garlic rubbed together with salt. Cover with a lid and simmer for 10 to 20 minutes. Season with salt and savoury tomato sauce, sprinkle with minced parsley. Serve with boiled rice, buckwheat kasha, fried or mashed potatoes.
