pits, sugar and crushed cherries in 4 or 5 cupsful of hot water and then
strain. Make a dough as directed in the recipe for pelmeni (see p. 44).
Roll out thin and cut rounds. Put 1 or 2 stoned cherries on each round
ad fold over into a half moon. Pinch the edges. Cook the vareniki for
5 to 10 minutes in the hot cherry stock and serve at once.
